My Story and My Strengths

My name is Tyler Prondzinski. I began researching my own family history 12 years ago after my paternal grandfather passed away. I was only 11 years old at the time, but I had a lot of ambition and a strong set of computer skills that helped me dive right in. Through the next couple years, I visited many relatives, wrote countless letters, saw numerous cemeteries, and requested a long list of vital records.

After a few years, I gave the research a rest as I entered high school. During college, I returned to my work with fresh eyes and began digitizing everything—moving years of research onto a hard drive and into the cloud. I worked to fill in gaps wherever I could, and while I’ve made significant progress, there are still areas I continue to explore and refine.

The moral of the story is that research can take some time, especially if you’re new to it or don’t start with much information. It’s a process that rewards patience and persistence.

At the urging of friends and family, I recently decided it was time to share the knowledge and experience I’ve gained by offering my services to others. I am currently in the process of furthering my research and knowledge by taking several different educational courses.

Memberships and Certifications:

Tyler Prondzinski stands against a brick wall

My Expertise

  • Illinois Genealogy (specifically the Chicago area and Northwestern Illinois)

  • Slovenian Genealogy (I am part Slovenian and consider this one of my best skills)

  • Wisconsin Genealogy

  • Latin (limited, but usually enough to translate records)

  • Newspaper Research (one of my favorite things to do is research for articles. Depending on the location, there might be newspapers online which can make research easy compared to my early days of spinning microfilm!)

This list isn’t comprehensive, and even if your ancestry falls outside these parameters, there’s a good chance I can still do a great job for you.
